Bangla Hope
Bangla Hope is a children’s home in northern Bangladesh that was founded in 1985 by Dave and Beverly Waid, a retired couple who saw the need for a home for abandoned children while working in the country. Today, 174 children live here. The campus also operates a K–12 school and supports 11 village schools throughout Bangladesh. As the children grow older, the organization has begun helping many of them attend university as well.
Our Personal Experience
What can we say about Bangla Hope that isn't already shared in our two-part video series? From the moment we connected with their leadership, we sensed that this ministry shared the same spiritual values we hold dear. The partnership felt Spirit-led from the very beginning, and we had a deep peace about working together.
Over the years, God has clearly guided Bangla Hope in creating a safe haven for abandoned children in Bangladesh. They intentionally call it a children's home rather than an orphanage because it truly feels like a family. At the time of filming, 174 children were living on campus. Each has come from a different story of pain and loss, yet together they have found hope.
We've met countless children around the world, and too often when we ask about their dreams for the future, we're met with blank stares. Many have already lost hope at a young age. But Bangla Hope is different. The children there have a sparkle in their eyes. They dream about the future, and, most importantly, many have fallen in love with Jesus.
Like many ministries, however, Bangla Hope faces significant financial challenges. In addition to caring for the children in their home, they support 11 village schools that provide a Christian education—something rare in Bangladesh. They also help students pursue higher education. Because many government exams are held on Saturdays with no religious exemption, some students must attend universities in the Philippines or Thailand to continue their education while remaining faithful to their convictions.
