On The Ground International

Venezuela has experienced one of the largest economic collapses in modern history, forcing millions to leave their homes in search of a better future. For many, this means traveling hundreds of miles on foot, often with limited access to food, shelter, and medical care.

On The Ground International (OTGI) provides much-needed assistance to those making this difficult journey. Along the migration route in Colombia, OTGI operates three shelters and supports a fourth locally operated shelter, providing food, showers, and a safe place to rest. Volunteers also offer assistance along the route, including access to medical clinics at designated locations.

Beyond helping migrants and refugees, OTGI serves local communities through outreach projects in low income neighborhoods and English classes in local schools.

Our Personal Experience

When we first connected with Bethany, one of the things that stood out to us was how deeply she cared for the people suffering from the crisis in Venezuela. As we got to know her story, we were inspired by the step of faith she took in traveling alone to Colombia, where she eventually founded On The Ground International.

We were equally impressed by OTGI’s caring team, many of whom are Venezuelans who once received help themselves and are now sharing that same Christlike love with others. Through its volunteer program, OTGI also welcomes people from all walks of life and around the world, giving them the opportunity to serve and carry that spirit of Christlike compassion back to their own countries. In this way, OTGI’s influence reaches far beyond Colombia. To us, that is a beautiful example of ministry.

We encourage you to visit OTGI's website to learn more about their work and how you can get involved.
